1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and [OPERATING COMPANY NAME] (Pty) Ltd (registration number [COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER]), trading as rAge Nation ("rAge Nation", "we", "us"), the organiser of the rAge Nation festival. They govern your use of the ragenation.gg website and the rAge Nation mobile app (together, "the service").

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and, if you take part in the leaderboard, the Leaderboard Competition Rules. If you do not agree, do not use the service — you can still attend the festival with a valid ticket.

Please read the sections on XP and prizes (6–7), Quickdraw (8) and liability (15) carefully: they limit our responsibility and set out things you are responsible for.

2. Who we are

As required by section 43 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002:

3. Who may use the service

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. The app checks your date of birth and will not let you continue if you are younger.

If you are under 18, you may use the service only with the consent of your parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of it. Some features that share your information stay off until a parent or guardian approves your account.

You may hold only one account. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred or shared.

4. Your account

Give us accurate information, including your real date of birth, and keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything done under your account and for keeping your password and devices secure. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.

Your username is shown to other attendees on the leaderboard and in Quickdraw duels. It must not be offensive, impersonate anyone, or infringe anyone's rights; we may change or remove a username that does.

5. Tickets

Festival tickets are sold by Howler, not by us and not inside the app. Your purchase, refunds, transfers and entry conditions are governed by Howler's terms and the rAge Nation ticket terms shown at checkout. The app contains no in-app purchases and takes no payment.

The app is not your ticket and does not get you in: show the ticket Howler issued you at the door. You can enter your ticket code in the app to verify that you hold a ticket, which earns leaderboard XP once. Each account can verify one ticket and each ticket can be verified on one account only; verifying someone else's ticket, or a ticket that has been refunded or cancelled, is not allowed and any XP from it may be removed.

6. XP, quests and the leaderboard

XP is awarded by our servers when a check-in, quest or duel is verified. It has no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for cash, and exists only within the service. The app shows XP only once the server has confirmed it; a scan made without signal is sent when you reconnect and judged then.

Check-ins and XP are checked automatically for signs of cheating, and we may review them by hand. We may withhold, adjust or reverse XP, remove a leaderboard position, or suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe someone has broken these terms or the Competition Rules — for example by sharing or photographing codes for others, scanning on someone else's behalf, automating or faking check-ins or duel results, using several accounts, or exploiting a fault. Where we do, you may ask us to explain the decision and to have it reviewed by a person.

XP earned outside the festival's opening hours, or from duels before the doors open, may not count towards the leaderboard.

7. Prizes

Any prizes for the leaderboard are offered under the rAge Nation 2026 Leaderboard Competition Rules, published at https://ragenation.gg/competition-rules, which form part of these terms. Where the Competition Rules and these terms disagree about a prize, the Competition Rules apply.

8. Quickdraw

Quickdraw is a reaction game played by raising and tapping your phone. Play only where it is safe to do so: hold your device securely, keep a safe distance from your opponent and other people, and watch your surroundings. Do not play while walking, on stairs or escalators, near edges, in crowds, or anywhere a swinging arm or a dropped phone could hurt someone or cause damage.

You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety, your device, and any injury or damage caused by how you play, except to the extent that the law does not allow us to exclude our responsibility.

Duel outcomes are settled on our servers from the sensor readings each phone reports. The result shown in the app is the one the server returned, and it is final unless we find an error or cheating.

9. Using the service properly

You must not:

• Break any law, or use the service to harass, threaten, abuse, defame or impersonate anyone.
• Interfere with or disrupt the service, probe or test it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or try to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law expressly allows it.
• Use bots, scripts, emulators or other automated means to use the service, or submit check-ins, quest completions or duel results other than by using the app as intended.
• Scrape, copy or redistribute festival content — schedules, exhibitor listings, artwork — beyond personal use.
• Use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission.

10. Content and intellectual property

The service, the rAge Nation name, logo, artwork, schedule and other festival content belong to us or to our partners and exhibitors, who have licensed it to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment of the festival. You get no other rights in it.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

11. Other services

The service links to and relies on services we do not control, including Howler, Apple, Google, and partner and exhibitor websites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

12. Your privacy

How we collect and use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy at https://ragenation.gg/privacy.

13. Availability and changes to the festival

We aim to keep the service running, particularly across the festival weekend, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available everywhere. A crowded venue is a difficult place for mobile data: the app is built to work offline where it can and to send what it cannot yet when you reconnect. We may change, suspend or withdraw any feature.

Festival dates, times, stages, exhibitors and line-up can change. The app shows what we have published at the time you look at it. 27 - 29 November 2026 is the planned run of the festival, not a guarantee that any particular session, stand or activity will take place.

14. Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. If anything in these terms is inconsistent with those rights, those rights apply.

15. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — for example, a missed session because a reminder did not arrive, or a ticket that could not be shown because your phone had no battery.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to [AMOUNT, e.g. R500]. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

16. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or the way you play Quickdraw.

17. Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account in the app under Settings → Your data → Delete account.

We may suspend or close your account, or remove your leaderboard position, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Competition Rules, if we reasonably suspect fraud or cheating, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable and lawful, we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to respond.

18. Notices

We may send you notices by email to the address on your account or in the app. You may send notices to info@ragenation.gg, and legal notices to our physical address in section 2. Electronic notices are treated as received as set out in the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service, the festival or the law changes. The effective date at the top changes when we do. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect; if you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. If you do not accept them, you may delete your account.

20. Disputes and governing law

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at info@ragenation.gg so we can try to resolve it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, without affecting your right to approach the National Consumer Commission, a consumer court, an ombud or any other forum available to you by law.

21. General

These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Competition Rules are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor organiser of the festival, who will be bound by them.
